History of the humble hamburger
The hamburger originated in the United States as a beef patty sandwich between two slices of bread — a creation that came to life at the end of the 19th century. It was associated with immigrants from Hamburg, Germany, from which it got its name.
The burger was popularised by McDonald’s during the 1940s and soon became a household name, the dish that everyone, from politicians to ordinary people, would enjoy with regularity.
These days, there are many takes on the humble hamburger, which has been elevated to gourmet status. Check out our recipes to know how creative and diverse the simple burger can be!
Grass fed beef: Aligning with your values
You’ll notice that our recipes call for grass fed beef — in fact, it’s the only type of beef we sell here at Provenir.
Grass fed beef is beef produced from animals that have the freedom to roam and graze on natural pastures. This means that they are enjoying the most natural diet possible, just as they would in the wild.
There’s no intensive farming with cattle restricted in pens, no added hormones, and no antibiotics either — just the most natural way for animals to live out their life. The result is healthier meat that’s higher in fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals and tastes as good as it sounds.
Our grass-fed beef is special because we use a mobile abattoir that goes to the farm instead of transporting animals on a stressful journey at the end of their lives. That’s right, you read that correctly, we have removed live transport from beef production. Our beef is the most humane and ethically produced you could find, making it easy for you to make purchasing choices that align with your values.
