Are you ready to take your taste buds on a culinary adventure with one of the most underrated cuts of beef? Look no further than the succulent, juicy tri-tip beef! In this article, we’ll share three tantalising tri-tip recipes that are sure to make your mouth water.
Whether you’re a seasoned grill master or a culinary newbie, these recipes will impress your dinner guests (or fussy family members) and elevate your next meal. So, let’s dive in and explore the delectable world of tri-tip beef.
What is tri-tip beef?
Tri-tip is a triangular-shaped cut of beef that comes from the bottom of the sirloin. Its unique shape, with a pointed “tip,” is where it gets its name. But don’t let its odd shape fool you—this underrated and overlooked cut is packed with flavour and tenderness.
Often mistaken for brisket due to its similar appearance, tri-tip is a leaner cut perfect for grilling or smoking. It’s known for its robust, beefy flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture, making it a popular choice for barbecues and family gatherings.
How do you cook tri-tip beef?
First, you’ll want to trim off ragged ends, silver skin, and thick chunks of fat to get a lean piece of meat. A little fat is perfectly okay.
Once you’ve trimmed your tri-tip, it’s time to season. You can take your tri-tip in almost any direction using wet or dry seasoning. Just be generous with the salt and pepper—it’s a thick piece of meat that can take a heavy-handed approach to flavour.
When it comes to cooking tri-tip, grilling and smoking are two great options. Slow cooking is another surefire win. Once your tri-tip is cooked to perfection, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it against the grain. This will help keep the meat tender and juicy.

Why choose grass-fed tri-tip beef?
If you’re a meat lover, you might wonder why you should choose grass-fed tri-tip beef over grain-finished beef. Here’s your answer.
Grass-fed cows roam freely and graze on natural pasture, unlike feedlot cattle, which is better for their overall health and well-being. That’s a win for animal welfare—and a win for you. Why? Because grass-fed meat is of higher quality, better tasting, and more nutritious.
Grass-fed beef has a different fat constitution than grain-fed beef. While it’s about 65 per cent lower in overall fat content, it’s proportionately higher in healthy, cancer-preventing fats like Omega 3s, Omega 6s, and CLAs.
